Outer fabric: The pattern can be used for all woven fabrics. It is not suitable for stretchy fabrics. 

Cotton and linen fabrics are ideal for summer dresses as they are light and breathable. Special types of fabric such as jacquard and brocade give dirndl dresses a sophisticated appearance and are ideal for festive occasions. Particularly fine and high-quality dresses are made of velvet and silk. This allows for the creation of many different styles of dirndls.

 Lining: Cotton fabrics are best suited for lining. They are comfortable to wear, breathable and easy to clean.
